7th edition (2013): A World for Learning: Training, Research and Innovation

The seventh edition of the FemCAT Forum focused on the role of people as vectors for innovation. The German model of dual vocational training is based on transfer of knowledge to company employees from the inception of their relationship. In turn, it relies on knowledge creation by external institutions, which in addition to providing services also facilitate the incorporation of people already trained in the user companies. A good meshing between these two extremes could enhance the companies’ capacity for innovation, both individually and as a whole.

The Forum featured the following speakers: Ramon Paredes, SEAT Executive Vice President; Joan J. Bosch, Manager of Budget Planning for Fraunhofer Gesellschaft, and Marc A. Gimmy, lawyer, Partner in Taylor Wessing.

• Ramon Paredes: “Vocational training is the best option for finding a job; continuous training is long overdue.”
• Joan J. Bosch: “We always look for the company to produce better and more innovative products than can be manufactured at a lower cost.”
• Marc A. Gimmy: “It was companies, not the State, that promoted the creation of the German dual vocational training system.”
